Piping allows you to use the response of a question and apply it to a future survey question, either embedded in the question itself or as one of the response choices. Both Ultimate Survey Enterprise Edition .Net and Professional Editions support piping. Ultimate Survey Enterprise Edition .Net has more advanced piping options than the Professional Edition.



For example, if a question early on in the survey asks the participant:

What city do you live in?

And the respondent answers “New York”

The survey may at a later point ask the participant:

“What is your favorite thing to do in New York?”

If the respondent had selected "Boston" as the answer, the followup question would say:

“What is your favorite thing to do in Boston?”
